Alkaseltzer rockets

Like on blue peter! You will need: 2 sheets of A4 paper, scissors, tape,film capsules, alkaseltzers and water.

1st, make your rocket shape around the film capsule- making sure you take the lid off 1st, and ensuring that the lid still fits snugly on after all the careful designing.

give them a rocket shaped top (make a cone from a circle of paper and tape it on very securely) and hey presto, ready to go take your own eyes out.

This is very much a messy and outdoor activity.

turn the rocket upside down, fill the capsule 1/2 way up with cold water, and add 1/2 an alkaseltzer (or a whole one of you fancy a drama) put the lid on as securely as possible.
stand the rocket upright.
run away.
**BLASTOFF**

or, if you didn't put the lid on properly, fizzy mess on the floor.

They work because of the build up of gas in the capsule when the alkaseltzer fizzes- so if you do try this don't go back to them once you've set them!
They take ages coz there has to be enough pressure to blow the lid off- propelling the rocket like 1m up so you'll get a black eye at best.
